When I made "Homesick," I was really aiming for that classic Lo-Fi vibe – you know, the kind of music that feels like a warm hug on a rainy day. It touches genres that i personally like a lot such as Lo-Fi, Hip-Hop, Chill Beats, Relaxing music, instrumental and study music. I wanted to create something that was both melancholic and comforting, something that captured that feeling of longing for a place or a time that maybe you can never quite get back to. It became one of my go-to tracks to relax after a long day, and it is perfect to be used as background music for a chill evening at home.

My Heroes: Nujabes and J Dilla

Now, I gotta give credit where credit is due. Two of my biggest influences, hands down, are Nujabes and J Dilla. These guys were absolute legends, and their music has had a profound impact on my own sound. I've spent countless hours studying their tracks, trying to figure out how they crafted those incredible melodies and grooves. "Homesick" is, in many ways, a tribute to their genius. I tried to channel Nujabes' soulful, almost spiritual approach to melody and blend it with J Dilla's signature off-kilter, swung beats. If you are a fan of tracks like Nujabes' "Aruarian Dance" or J Dilla's work on Slum Village's "Fall in Love", you will probably like what I tried to do with "Homesick".

Finding My Place in the Lo-Fi Scene

But I'm also inspired by a lot of the newer artists who are pushing the Lo-Fi genre forward. Guys like Tomppabeats, Jinsang, and Kupla are creating some seriously beautiful and innovative music. Their tracks, like Tomppabeats' "monday loop", have this amazing ability to create a specific atmosphere, to transport you to another place and time. That's something I really strive for in my own music, and "Homesick" is definitely an example of that.

The Power of Chill

And of course, I'm a huge fan of artists like Sleepy Fish and The Deli, whose music is just pure relaxation fuel. Their tracks, like The Deli's "5:32pm", are perfect for unwinding after a long day, for studying, or just for creating a chill vibe. That's the kind of feeling I want people to get when they listen to "Homesick." I'm also trying to achieve the same effect as Eery does with tracks like "her", taking the listener back in time.

More Than Just Music

For me, making music isn't just about creating something that sounds good. It's about expressing emotions, telling stories, and connecting with people on a deeper level. With "Homesick," I hope I've created something that does all of those things.

"Azimuth" is a testament to the profound impact of Tycho's and Bonobo's musical philosophies. The track features lush, ambient textures reminiscent of Tycho's ethereal soundscapes, combined with rhythmic structures and melodic progressions that echo Bonobo's eclectic style. The result is a composition that invites listeners on a contemplative journey, much like the works of these influential artists.

In producing "Azimuth," I employed analog synthesizers and live instrumentation to emulate the warmth characteristic of Tycho's recordings. Additionally, I incorporated diverse samples and intricate rhythms, drawing inspiration from Bonobo's production techniques, to create a rich, layered auditory experience.

"Azimuth" serves as both an homage to and a continuation of the ambient and downtempo traditions established by Tycho and Bonobo. By weaving their influences into my own musical narrative, I aim to contribute to the evolving tapestry of electronic music, offering listeners a space for reflection and immersion.
